Realising value from intelligent transformation

Lawrence Freeman, Director of Next Generation Tech, Kubrick Group
A brand-new report from Kubrick explores the challenges – and opportunities – of leveraging outcome-driven solutions to advance strategic transformation initiatives. Combining cross-industry insights with live use cases from their expansive client portfolio, Kubrick’s Market Intelligence team reveal new ways to unlock greater value from data, AI, and cloud technology.
The age of AI is no longer a distant concept, but an increasingly close reality for the way organisations operate and succeed. The technology industry is leading the charge, providing both the tools and the investment to bring their customers and society at large with them.
And the impact shows: on September 17th, 2024, Microsoft, BlackRock and other technology-first investment organisation launched the Global AI Infrastructure Investment Group (GAIIP), which will seek to generate up to $100 billion USD in funding for the infrastructure and energy required to accelerate sustainable AI innovation.
On the very same day, the United Nations released its biennial E-Government Survey, which noted the ‘catalysing’ effect of private sector innovation on the remarkable improvement in global government digitisation. Undoubtedly, the ambitions of organisations like the GAIIP will continue to fuel macro-level developments.
While Big Tech is paving the way, there isn’t one strict pathway to follow. Data and technology leaders across industries are overwhelmed with the possible ways to navigate the changing technology landscape, treading a line that balances innovation with security and governance, cost with scale, and whilst managing ongoing legacy challenges with the pressure to accelerate maturity.
The endpoint, a utopian digital ecosystem that powers intelligent AI, is a promising vision. The reality of the roadmap to get there, however, is fraught with nuance, siloes, budgetary challenges, and legacy tethers.
However, if intelligent transformation is a journey, it’s a road trip; each stop on the way presents an opportunity to showcase return on investment (ROI) and impact on wider business objectives, thereby keeping passengers (i.e. business stakeholders) onboard. This isn’t a voyage leaders must travel alone. The advancement of partner ecosystems is revolutionising the ways industry and technology are collaborating to improve the outcomes of their data and AI products while building foundations for scaling across the organisation.
At the risk of over labouring the metaphor, there will be roadblocks and wrong turns which leaders must navigate. Is sticking with your current tech stack a Sunk Cost Fallacy, like taking a slow but steady backroad instead of taking the risk of merging onto a highway? Or, when it comes to making investments in new tools and platforms, are you stuck in the roundabout of the Paradox of Choice? In Destination: Transformation, a new report from Kubrick, we consider some of the challenges when advancing data, AI, and cloud maturity while driving value from tech that will ensure customers and business stakeholders enjoy the ride.
